Cross Country travels to Fullerton for Titan Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Long Beach State cross country team will make the short trip to Orange County on Friday (Oct. 22) for the Titan Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The women's 5,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men's 8,000-meter race beginning at 5:30 p.m. Both races will take place on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. The 49ers will take a small contigent of runners that will both compete for The Beach and run unattached.
The 49er women's team is coming off from a successful campaign this past Saturday in Northern California, winning the Bronco Invitational team championship for the second time in three years. Junior Rosa Del Toro was the top runner for the 49ers, finishing in seventh place, recording a personal-best in the 5K with a time of 17:16.6. For her performance this past weekend, Del Toro was named Big West Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
The men's squad finished in the top-10 at the Bronco Invitational, placing sixth with 199 points. Freshman Heath Reedy led the 49ers, crossing the finish line in 34th with a personal-best in the 8K at 24:43.4.
LBSU will be preparing for the Big West Conference Championships next Saturday (Oct. 30) at UC Riverside.
