Water Polo heads to day two at UC Irvine Invitational

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State fell in their two matches on the opening day at the UC Irvine Invitational, losing 18-2 against UCLA before dropping a heartbreaker to UC Irvine in overtime, 7-6.
Long Beach State's Krizia Cerda and Lauren Sieprath chipped in the team's two goals against UCLA, sending the team to the back half of the draw where they faced host UC Irvine. The Beach rallied from a one-goal deficit at halftime to take a 6-4 lead going into the final period, but UC Irvine tied up the game in the fourth period and scored the only overtime tally to take the win.
Sieprath and Cecilia Canetti led the 49ers with two goals each against UC Irvine. Long Beach State starts off Sunday with a 10:30 a.m. match against UC Santa Barbara, and then will continue on for one final game at the UC Irvine tournament.
