Water Polo kicks off season with alumnae win

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State's women's water polo opened the season Saturday with a 5-3 exhibition win over a number of former 49er alumnae. The 49ers will begin the regular season at home on Feb. 5 against UCLA.
The alumnae started the game with a 1-0 lead after an early goal from Sarah Vejar, but the 49ers roared back with five unanswered goals, including two from sophomore Lauren Sieprath. With a 4-1 lead going into the half, both sides settled into a more relaxed contest in the second half.
The regular season starts Feb. 5 for Long Beach State, as the 49ers host UCLA at the Campus Pool. That match will begin at 7 p.m.
