
Beach Finishes Competition At Stanford Invitational

Palo Alto, Calif. - Miia Mobley led the list of top performers for Long Beach State on the second day of competition at the Stanford Invitational. Mobley shattered her career best in the triple jump, adding six inches while finishing as the top collegiate athlete in the event and qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.
Mobley made up for a no mark performance in the long jump by making her best triple jump ever, hitting 40'6.25" and tying the second-best mark in Long Beach State history.
Other top finishers for the women included Jessica Branker, who clocked a 12.09 in the 100m finals and Jill Reynolds who tied a season-high by clearing 12'1.50" in the pole vault.
On the men's side, Brent Gray took fifth place in the 100m finals after qualifying on Friday with a time of 10.72. Kelsey Caesar also had a top time on day two, clocking in with a time of 48.23 in the 400m, taking fifth place in the event. Chris Lawson also finished in fifth place for the Beach, running a 54.03 in the 400m hurdles.
Both the men's relay teams also performed well, as the 4x100 team and the 4x400 team both finished in second place and were the top collegiate finishers. The 4x100 team's time of 41.10 was a season high, as was the 4x400 team's mark of 3:11.97, whih was just ,27 seconds out of first place.
The 49ers get a short break before competing in the Big West Challenge in Irvine in Irvine. That is the last full competition before Long Beach State hosts their lone home meet of the year, the Beach Invitational on April 19 at Cerritos College.
