LONG BEACH-- Long Beach State junior Hannah Grady (Coventry, England) was selected to participate in the NCAA 64-Player Singles Championship, hosted by the University of Tulsa beginning on May 21.
This is Grady's second trip to the NCAA Singles Championship, as she previously played in 2006 at Stanford, losing to Miami's Audra Cohen. This is the third time a 49er individual has been selected to participate in this championship. Jing Chen reached the second round in 1998.
Grady is ranked No. 82 nationally and was the automatic qualifier from the Big West as the highest-ranked individual player. Grady, who along with her teammates (19-6) begin the NCAA Team Tournament on Friday against Denver, was named the Big West Player of the Year for the third straight time on Tuesday. She is currently 26-9 on the season, two wins from the single-season record.
