Box Score

Las Vegas, Nev. - In their second game of the day, Long Beach State pounded out 10 hits and seven runs en route to an easy win over Pittsburgh during the second day of the Eller Media Classic. Seniors Jonae Perez and Brooke LeSage each had two hits to lead the 49ers.

Despite a score that was deceptively close, Long Beach State opened an early lead against the Panthers, taking a seven-run lead before allowing three late runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Beach got their first run on the board in the first inning, as Lacy Tyler came around to score after a walk from Jennifer Griffin and the first RBI of the day, a single by LeSage.

Long Beach State's big inning came in the third though. Starting with a single from Jessica Beaver, Perez walked prior to two outs for Long Beach State. New Panthers pitcher Zinger recorded two outs, but the 49er rally continued after a two-run triple from LeSage, her second hit of the day. LeSage would then score on a Danielle Linke double to take a 4-0 lead.

Capitalizing on three Pittsburgh errors, the 49ers continued to cross home plate, eventually taking a 7-0 lead into the seventh inning. For Long Beach State, Bridgette Pagano picked up her fourth win of the season, striking out five while allowing one walk.

Long Beach State finishes their time in Las Vegas tomorrow, when they face off against tournament host UNLV in the final game. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
