No. 1-ranked UCLA (13-0, 3-0 MPSF) remained undefeated to start the year, defeating host Long Beach State (5-3, 1-1 MPSF) 19-7 on Sunday afternoon behind four goals from Jillian Krauss and three from Tanya Gandy.

UCLA went up 5-1 after the first period as Gandy had all three of her goals in the first. After a Keala O'Sullivan goal tied it at 1-1, Katie Rulon made it 2-1 with 5:20 remaining, before the Bruins scored four unanswered on 49er ejections to lead 6-1 early into the second period.

Following the first of two goals from Dayna Wawrzysnki for LBSU, the Bruins went to work again scoring the next 10 to lead 16-2 with 27 seconds left in the third period. Kraus had a goal in the second period and three more in the third.

The 49ers scored the first five goals of the fourth period to cut the lead to 16-7, with freshman Kelsie Emerick providing two goals and an assist in the period.

The 49ers are next in action when they travel to the UC Irvine Invitational next Saturday and Sunday on UCI's campus and at Carona del Mar High School.
