September 29, 2007
PALO ALTO--The Long Beach State women's team was ninth, while the men's team was 10th at the 34th running of the Stanford Inviational on Saturday.
Dylan Jaedtke was the top male finisher for the 49ers, finishing just six seconds short of his personal-best with a time of 24:56 in the 8K race for 37th place. On the women's side, Sarah Apgar ran 21:45 for 24th place in her first collegiate 6K.
"I thought that this meet was a great learning experience, against a high level of competion," said Distance Coach Patrick Cunniff. "I was really happy with the performance of our 2-3-4 women and thought they were very competitive and ran well together. Dylan continued to be an outstanding leader on the men's side, while freshman Travis Kuhlman ran a very exciting race and showed a lot of potential."
The trio of Carly Harris (22:15), Kristina Wilson (22:17) and Missy Barclay (22:17) finished 46th, 48th and 49th. Barclay's time was a personal-best by 19 seconds, her second personal-best of the season. Kuhlman was the second 49er male to finish, running 25:30 for 69th place.
