Wensman Hits Century Mark in Loss
Christina Wensman became just the ninth 49er ever to eclipse 100 goals in a career, leading The Beach with three goals, giving her 101 in her four-year career. Alexis Higlett had four goals for the Spartans, while Tayna Torres and Juliet Moss had three goals a piece. SJSU built a 4-1 first quarter lead paced by two goals from Moss and then made it 8-1 at the half pased by two second period scores from Higlett. LBSU mounted a rally in the third period, scoring four unanswered to close to within 9-5 on a Ashley Heaslip score with 59 seconds remaining. The Spartans then scored four of the next five goals to put the contest away. |
