Beach Completes Sweep of Highlanders Bridgette Pagano (15-9) picked up her second win of the weekend as she went all five innings allowing two earned runs on three hits, while striking out six. Pagano also helped herself out at the plate going 2-for-3 with a homerun and four RBI. Six 49ers registered more than one hit as The Beach finished the day with 15 hits. The 49ers came out swinging as they scored three runs in the top of the first. Ashley Levine reached base on an error before advancing to third on a single by Lacy Tyler. Panita Thanatharn drove in Levine with an RBI single as Tyler advanced to third and then scored on a wild pitch. An infield single from Brooke LeSage scored Thanatharn before a groundball out ended the inning. The Highlanders came back in the bottom half of the inning to score their only two runs of the game on a two-run homerun from Lauren Bauer, but the 49ers increased their lead to four (6-2) with three runs in the second inning. Jessica Beaver singled home Franciska Morlet before Brooke LeSage drove in two runs with a shot up the middle. The 49ers broke the game wide open with a seven-run fourth inning. With two outs, Pagano came through with a two-run single, scoring Tyler and pinch runner Gaby Soto. Morlet then followed with an RBI single up the middle before Whitney Radcliff drove in two with a double to centerfield. Levine, who led the inning off with a single, drove in two more runs with a single down the left field line, before a fly ball out ended the inning. The Beach scored two more runs in the fifth when Pagano drove a Marissa Alvidrez pitch over the left field fence. The 49ers continue Big West action on the road next weekend (April 28-29) as they travel to Pacific for a three-game series and will return home the following weekend when they host future Big West member UC Davis.
