Bobby McMurray Tied the Game and Espinosa won it with Three Runs in the Ninth

LONG BEACH, CA-- Bobby McMurray tied the game with a two-run, two-out single in the ninth, before Danny Espinosa won the game for No. 30-ranked Long Beach State (3-1) as they came from behind and scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat No. 7-ranked Texas (2-3) 7-6.

Heading into the ninth, LBSU could not get a hit off of Joseph Krebs, who had retired seven straight. Then, with one out, Matt Cline singled, before Robert Perry reached base safely for the fifth time with a hit by pitch. Eventual loser, Adrian Alaniz (1-1) then came on, and hit pinch-hitter Brandon Godfrey, before a popup kept the bases load. Then, McMurray, who missed the last two years with a shoulder injury, came through with a seeing eye single through the right side. Then on a 3-2 count, Espinosa won it with an RBI single to right center.

Houston native Dustin Rasco (1-0), who retired six in a row and nine of 10 batter to close out the game, picked up his first win of his Division-I career after transferring from Kansas State following his sophomore year.

Krebs finished off giving up three runs over four and two-third innings after James Russell could not get out of the fourth inning, walking four as LBSU and Texas were knotted at 3-3, before Kyle Russell's second homer of the game made it 6-3 in the top of the ninth.

Vance Worley started for The Beach, giving up five runs (four earned) over six innings.
