Grabow Earns Academic Distinction LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State senior distance runner Jimmy Grabow (Running Springs) was named first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, awarded later this summer. The history major finished his two year career at Long Beach State with five top-10 marks, which included three school-records. He set the standard with the best outdoor 10,000-meter time in school-history, and re-wrote the record book during the indoor season with the fastest 3,000 and 5,000-meter times. He also had the eighth-fastest outdoor 5,000-meter time and the second-fastest 8K during the cross country season. He finished his career with three all-conference certificates, one during last year's cross country season, and two during the outdoor season, one in the 10,000-meter in 2005 and another this past season, in the 5,000-meter. As a team, Grabow was a part of some of the top teams in recent memory. The 49er cross country team staked its claim as one of the nation's most improved programs, finishing 10th at regionals in 2005, its best finish since the mid-1980's; while the men's track and field team won its first conference title in 30 years during the outdoor season.
