LBSU Falls to No. 1 UCLA, 4-0
Torres Suffers First Loss of Season

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The Long Beach State softball team fell to the No. 1-ranked UCLA Bruins, 4-0, at Easton Stadium, on Sunday afternoon.

Long Beach State fell to 10-4 on the season, while UCLA improved to 16-0.

UCLA broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning after a Whitney Holum double scored Amanda Simpson. The Bruins added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, after Stephanie Ramos connected for a two-run home run, and a Jodi Legaspi double which scored Ashley Herrera.

Marcel Torres (5-1) suffered her first loss of the season for The Beach going 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits.

Long Beach State managed five hits off of Keira Goerl, who went seven innings with three strikeouts.

The 49ers are next in action at the University of Hawaii Tournament, March 4-7.
