Beach Open Season in Santa Barbara

CROSS COUNTRY OPENS UP SEASON LONG BEACH, CA--The Beach cross country team will head to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday to compete in the UCSB Triangular meet with Cal Poly SLO. This will be the first meet of the season for the team and will showcase some of the new talent The Beach has acquired in the off-season. Top returners for the men include Kenny Lawrence (Ramona), Cory Martin (South Lake Tahoe), Brian Stehmeier (Running Springs), and Terrance Wroblewski (Half Boon Bay). Newcomer Wolhan Ovalle will make his Long Beach debut and should put up a strong showing in the race. Top returners for the women include Sharon Burnett (Springfield, OR), Diane Mendoza (Cerritos), Jaclyn Pedersen (Simi Valley). Newcomers Tarah Novelli (Lancaster), Carol Baillie (Huntington Beach), and Crystal Roethlisberger (Tulare) should make an immediate impact for the team. |
