Beach Head to Riverside

BEACH HEAD TO RIVERSIDE LONG BEACH, CA --The Beach cross country team will travel to Riverside to compete in the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday. "UC Riverside is the location of the 2003 Big West Championships and this race will give the team an opportunity to run the course in preparation for the championships," said Distance Coach Geoff Masanet. Several of the top male runners will sit out and rest this meet. Competing for the men are Scot Breithaupt (Murrietta), Loren Childers (Snohomish, WA), Arturo Garcia (Chino), Kenny Lawrence (Ramona), Cory Martin (So. Lake Tahoe), and Aaron Trunnell (Oceanside). This meet will be the first race for JC transfer Crystal Roethlisberger (Tulare) in a Beach uniform. Others competing for on the women's side include freshman record-holder Nicole Blalock (Villa Park), Sharon Burnett (Springfield, OR), Veronica Caprin (Oxnard), Diane Mendoza (Cerritos), Tarah Novelli (Lancaster), Jaclyn Pedersen (Simi Valley), Molly Roche` (Arleta), and Gretchen Witowich (La Mirada). |
