Bouffler Advances To Finals In Singles And Doubles
November 8, 2003 SAN DIEGO, CA-- Long Beach State junior Nicole Bouffler (Orange, New South Wales, Australia) had a great day at the USD/SDSU Invitational on Saturday. Bouffler won two singles matches and one doubles match to move to the championship match in both events.
In singles, Bouffler won her quarterfinal match over Katalina Romero of San Diego State, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. In the semifinals she dispatched of USD's Emma Murphy, 6-2, 7-5. Murphy is ranked #77 in the country in the latest ITA Rankings. Bouffler will now face Dita Hauerlandora of San Diego State in Sunday's final. In other singles action, both Tammy Day and Sandra Rocha lost their quarterfinal matches in the main draw. Rocha fell 6-1, 6-3 to Hauerlandora, while Day fell 6-1, 6-0 to Murphy.
In doubles, the 49er tandem of Bouffler/Day defeated USD's Brown/Kazarian 8-3 to move to Sunday's championship match. They will face San Diego State's Romero/Hauerlandora.
