LBSU Men, SDSU Women Win LB Invite

LBSU MEN, SDSU WOMEN WIN LONG BEACH INVITE LONG BEACH, CA--The Beach men's cross country team captured the Long Beach State Invitational title, while San Diego State captured the women's title Saturday at El Dorado Park (East). Wilhelm Gidabuday of Runner's High won the men's race with a time of 25:11, while Beth Van Alstine of Women of Troy won the women's with a time of 21:59. Junoir Terrance Wroblewski (Half Moon Bay) was the top male collegiate finisher, coming in third with a time of 25:37. Senior Brian Stehemeir (Brian Stehmeier) finished eighth with a time of 26:10. "This is the best our men's team has ran all season," said Distance Coach Geoff Masanet. "If we run like this at conference, we could shock some people. We are burning with confidence right now," Masanet added. Junior Jennifer Yadon (Lancaster) was the top finisher for the women's team in 13th place with a time of 23:47. Senior Diane Mendoza (Cerritos) came in just behind Yadon in 16th place with a time of 23.50. Freshman Nicole Blalock fought off fatigue to finish in 22nd place with a time of 24:04. "Both Jennifer and Diane ran some great races and I'm proud of how our top women ran," said Distance Coach Geoff Masanet. For complete results, click on the links below: |
