49ers to Host LBSU Invite

CROSS COUNTRY TO HOST LB INVITE LONG BEACH, CA--The Beach cross country team will host the Long Beach State Invitational this Saturday at El Dorado Park (East). The men's 8k race begins at 10:00 am, followed by the women's 6k race running at 10:45 am. An open 4k race will start at 11:15 am. The meet features Long Beach State, Biola (women), Cal Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, Notre Dame de Namur, San Diego State (women), Simpson, UC Riverside, USC (women), and several local track clubs. The meet will be the final home race for five seniors: Loren Childers (Snohomish, WA; 26:22.3), Cory Martin (So. Lake Tahoe; 25:27.5), Brian Stehmeier (Running Springs; 25:35.0), Sharon Burnett (Springfield, OR; 19:12.4), and Diane Mendoza (Cerritos; 19:00.3). The women's number one runner freshman Nicole Blalock (Orange; 18:13) will look to continue her strong season, while teammates junior Crystal Roethlisberger (Tulare; 18:25.2) and Jennifer Yadon (Lancaster; 19:51.2) will also look to have strong races. The men's cross country team received its first regional ranking (15th) of the season this past week and will look to continue its success with junior Terrance Wroblewski (Half Moon Bay; 24:45.00) leading the way. |
