Men 3rd, Women 4th at ASU Invite
Blalock and Wroblewski Lead Beach in the Desert

TEMPE, AZ -- The Long Beach State cross country team stuck to their race
plan Friday finishing third (of eight teams) on the men's side and fourth
(of eight teams) on the women's side.

Freshman Nicole Blalock (Orange) led the women with an eighth place finish,
running 18:20.4. Junior Crystal Roethlisberger (Tulare) (19:32.1) and
senior Diane Mendoza (Cerritos) (19:37.0) came in at 25th and 26th place
respectively. Junior Jennifer Yadon (Lancaster), running in her first race
of the season finished 29th overall with a time of 19:42.6.

Junior Terrance Wroblewski (Half Moon Bay) led the men's team with a 13th
place finish (25:32.7), while senior teammate Brian Stehmeier (Running
Springs) came in just behind Wroblewski in 14th place with a time of
25:49.3.

"We stuck to our race plan and ran a very, controlled race," said Distance
Coach Geoff Masanet. "We saved our best races for the upcoming meets and
look forward to seeing how the season ends up," Masanet added.

points), 3. Utah (82 points), 4. Long Beach State (105 points), 5. Hawaii
(114 points), 6. Mesa CC (181 points), 7. Scottsdale CC (215 points), 8.
Yucaipa College (217 points).

Individual -- 1. Amy Hastings, ASU (17:17.1), 8. Nicole Blalock, LBSU
(18:20.4), 25. Crystal Roethlisberger (19:23.1), 26. Diane Mendoza, LBSU
(19:37.0), 29. Jennifer Yadon, LBSU (19:42.6), 34. Jaclyn Pedersen, LBSU
(19:51.2), 38. Sharon Burnett, LBSU (20:07.8), 48. Tarah Novelli, LBSU
(20:42.9), 57. Veronica Capron, LBSU (21:31.8).
