Jumpers, Sprinters, Throwers Excel in NorCal

Beach Excel in Northern California March 30, 2002 PALO ALTO, CA / FRESNO, CA--Both at the Stanford Invite in Palo Alto and the California-Nevada Championships in Frenso, Long Beach State's jumpers, sprinters and throwers exceled against national caliber competition. At Stanford, Meghan Atkinson finished first in the 400m race with a time of 57.21, while her counterpart, Rashaad Johnson was second in the 200m race with a time of 21.82 and fourth in the 400m race with a time of 47.50. In the jumps, also at Stanford, Connie Jerz and Jimmy Camilo each finished second in their respetive pole vaults, Jerz with another school-record, at 13'5.25" , while Camilo finished second with a vault of 16'2.75". Anthony Colson was able to win his long jump with a distance of 23'1.75", while finishing fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 47'4.50". Down the road in Fresno, Stephanie Sampson finished third in the hammer with a distance of 187'2.00", while Jon O'Neil tossed a shot 62'6.50" for second place. Cory Loebl finished third in the discus wiht a toss of 181'0.00". FULL RESULTS FROM STANFORD
