CROSS COUNTRY HEADS TO PALO ALTO
49ERS AT STANFORD FOR THE NCAA REGIONALS

LONG BEACH, CA -- The Long Beach State cross country team will head to Stanford this Saturday, November 16, for the NCAA West Regionals Meet. This meet qualifies runners for the NCAA Cross Country Championships held at Indiana State in Terra Haute, Indiana on Monday, November 25.

"Our main goal this weekend is to improve upon last year's finishes," said Distance Coach Geoff Masanet. "if we improve on that, then the meet was a success." Last season, the men finished 15th, while the women finished 17th in a tough West Region.

After a fourth place All-Conference finish at the Big West Championships, sophomore Jenny Yadon (Lancaster, CA) has a shot at making the National Championships. "It's very possible that Jenny could get into the Top 25, which move on to the National meet," Masanet said. Yadon will lead the team in the women's race along with Sharon Burnett (Springfield, OR) and Diane Mendoza (Cerritos, CA).

On the men's side, Terrance Wroblewski (Half Moon Bay, CA), Brian Stehmeier (Running Springs, CA) and Kenny Lawrence (Ramona, CA) will lead the men. All three have been dropping race times each week and should do well this weekend.
