Long Beach State head women's basketball coach Jody Wynn has announced the hiring of Lauren Kawahara as the program's director of operations prior to the start of the 2010-11 season.
Kawahara served as a student manager for the 49er women's basketball team during the 2009-10 season. She assisted with all team management duties at practices and games, while also working closely with the coaching staff on the recruitment database and other administrative tasks.
During her time as a student at LBSU, Kawahara also worked as an event management supervisor and marketing intern Kawahara has coached girls' basketball for the past three years, serving as an assistant head coach for the varsity team at Harbor Teacher Prep Academy and as a head coach for South Bay Friends of Richard (F.O.R.). In addition, she created and directed a basketball camp for the Healthy-Start program at 186th Street Elementary School in Gardena.
Kawahara graduated from Long Beach State with a bachelor's degree in operations management and management in 2010.
