2005 (Junior): Reserve batted .231 over 33 games and 26 starts, scoring eight runs and driving in eight runs... had eight doubles on the year and had a .972 fielding percentage based off of 12 starts at catcher, eight at third base and six at first base... had eight multi-hit games on the season... went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a double at UC Irvine on April 10... also had three hits at Pacific, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and a double on April 23... went 2-for-4 at LMU on April 19 and 2-for-3 with a double and a walk on April 30 against UC Davis... went 2-for-4 at Wichita State on March 20... went 2-for-4 with a double at Baylor on March 4.
2004 (Sophomore): Batted .271, starting 12 games with 10 starts at third base, two starts at catcher... scored six runs and had three doubles... had the game-winning single in the ninth against UCLA on April 27 as the Bruins brought in a five-man infield and Cruz found a hole on the left side... went 3-for-4 with two runs against Arizona on March 18... went 2-for-4 with a run and two singles against Baylor in the first game of a doubleheader on February 21.
2003 (Freshman): Batted .217 in 11 games and five starts, with four starts at designated hitter and one at third... also caught during the late innings... scored three runs... went 2-for-3 in his first collegiate start, against Arizona State on February 2... went 2-for-5 with an RBI single at UC Santa Barbara on April 27... his broken bat single ignited a five-run fifth at Baylor on March 7.
High School: Earned four varsity letters in baseball... batted .518 with five homers, as he was named the Glendale Player of the Year as a senior... All-CIF, thanks to throwing out 19 of 23 potential base runnners... also was a Southern Section Daily News honoree at catcher and the league’s MVP... team made playoffs in 2001 and 2002.
Personal: Son of Roberto Cruz and Maria Gomez... majoring in kinesiology.
