2005 (Senior): Selected in the sixth round of the MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres ... Named first-team All-American by Sports Weekly and Collegiate Baseball ... Selected first-team All-Conference ... Did not give up an earned run in 27 appearances, pitching 29.2 innings ... Went 4-0 with 11 saves ... Struck out 27 and walked five ... 2004 (Junior): Selected in the eighth round of the MLB Draft by the New York Mets ... Named second-team All-Conference and was named third-team All-American by the NCBWA ... ranked second in the Big West in saves (12) and eighth in the nation, going 3-5 with a 4.35 ERA ... Started the season wit ha string of eight straight outing without a run, converting six of his 12 save opportunities from mid-Feb. to mid-Mar. .. In 21 of his 30 outings, he did not give up an earned run ... Finished the season, giving up 10 runs over his final five appearances ... Opened the season by giving up two runs in an inning at Cal on Feb. 6 ... Came on to pick up two saves in the seres with Baylor in mid-Feb. pitching perfect ninth innings for both ... Picked up the a win against Wichita State, giving up an unearned run, before the Dirtbags came back in the bottom of the ninth ... Converted two saves in the team's series win over UC Irvine on Apr. 17 and 18, getting the final two outs on the 17th, before giving up two hits in the ninth on the 18th ... 2003 (Sophomore): Emerged as one of the top relievers in the Big West, earning second-team All-Conference honors ... Ranked fourth on the team with a 5-2 record and tied for the most wins of any reliever in the Big West ... His 25 appearances ranked eighth in the conference ... Compiled a 3.43 ERA over 44.2 innings ... Struck out 35 and waked 13 as opponents battered .265 ... Earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors on Mar. 10 after a win and a save against San Diego State and at Baylor ... Only save came at Baylor on Mar. 7 as he pitched 2.2 shutout innings, giving up one hit ... Pitched three shutout innings three days earlier against San Diego State, giving up one hit to earn the win ... Started the season with a 0.96 ERA over the first eight innings ... Summer League: In the Summer of 2003, compiled a 1.13 ERA over 20 appearances for the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod League ... Tossed 32 innings, going 1-0 with one save, giving up 23 hits ... Gave up just four earned runs, striking out 41 and walking eight ... Teammates with Jered Weaver on the Anchorage Bucs of the Alaska Summer League in 2002… compiled a 4.15 ERA, with two saves in seven games and 8.2 innings… gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits… did strike out seven and walk just one.
2002 (Freshman): Named Honorable mention Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball… One of the top relievers in the Big West… Appeared in 22 games, compiling a 2.70 ERA over 30 innings… third-best ERA of any full-time reliever in the conference, behind teammates Carlos Muniz (1.52 ERA) and Chris Demaria (2.42)… Went 1-1 with two saves, striking out 33 and walking just five… Opponents batted just .241 against him… gave up 17 runs (nine earned)… Was prone to the long ball, giving up a team-tying five homers… Struck out a career-best four over three shutout innings in 16-inning win over Cal State Fullerton on May 25… Tallied a save, pitching the final 2.0 shutout innings at Louisiana State on Mar. 2… Scored his second save on April 12 versus UC Santa Barbara… Struck out three on three other occasions, versus Arizona over 1.0 inning on Mar. 8, versus Wichita State over two innings on Mar. 19 and versus UC Santa Barbara on Apr. 12 over two innings… Began the year, with an 0.96 ERA, giving up just one earned run over his first seven games and 9.1 innings, striking out 13 batters… Gave up just two earned runs from April 24 until the end of the season, a span of 10 games and 13.1 innings.
