Bio
Summer League: Spent the 2002 summer in the Cape Cod League for Bourne, going 2-2 with a 3.64 ERA over 10 games and three starts... hurled 29.2 innings, gave up 33 hits, and struck out 22 and walked 11.
Prior to LBSU: Spent three seasons at San Jose State, pitching the 2001, 2002 and 2005 seasons... missed the 2003 and 2004 seasons with off season rotator cuff surgery following the 2002 season, received a sixth year of eligibility... went 8-3 with five saves with a 4.95 ERA over 49 games and 16 starts... hurled 132.2 innings, giving up 136 hits and striking out 106 and walking 48... opponents batted .265 against him... went 0-1 with a 10.34 ERA over 10 games and three starts in 2005 after spending two seasons on the sidelines... in 2002, was second on the Spartans with 72 strikeouts... named the Western Athletic’s Pitcher of the Week three times, once on May 27 after two saves at Nevada and 4.2 innings and four strikeouts and another time on April 1, when picked up a win and a save at Hawaii’s Easter Tournament... also named the most outstanding pitcher of that tournament... his first WAC award came on March 18 when he went 2-0 with a complete game win over Sacramento State and a relief win against Louisiana Tech... also pitched in the NCAA Regional at Stanford against Cal State Fullerton, in their win over the Titans... in 2001, pitched the final 5.1 innings against UC Santa Barbara.
High School: A three-year letterman in baseball at Valley Christian High Schoo, where he was named all-league, and All-CIF as a senior... set the school-record for wins, saves, innings, pitched and strikeouts in a season and finished with the second-best ERA in school-history... also earned two varsity letters in basketball for Valley Christian.
And Finally: Son of Mike and Becky McErlain... majoring in sociology.
