MLB/Summer League: Drafted in the 43rd round in 2001 by the Twins.
Prior to LBSU: Played the 2003 season for CCCAA Champion Cypress College, earning Southern California JUCO and Orange Empire Player of the Year honors and CCCAA All-America status… batted .374 with 47 runs, 68 hits, 49 RBI with 10 doubles, one triple and nine homers from the field and an 11-3 record over 15 starts and 107.1 innings from the mound… compiled a 3.10 ERA, with 101 strikeouts and 46 walks… ranked 20th in the state in homers and 27th in RBIs, and sixth in the state in wins, 10th in innings and 12th in strikeouts…ranked fourth in the Orange Empire in homers, eighth in RBI, 10th in ERA, 12th in slugging (.588) and 13th in on-base percentage (.440) ... Began collegiate career in 2002 at LSU where he was named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American ...
