Miller is back for his third season as volunteer assistant coach in 2018, after helping the Dirtbags to an NCAA Regional appearance in each of his first two seasons. The former catcher played two seasons with the Dirtbags, appearing five times in 2012 and making 24 appearances (including 21 starts) as a senior in 2013.

Miller works extensively with the Dirtbags catchers, and helped David Banuelos earn first team All-Big West honors in 2017. Banuelos was also a finalist for the prestigious Johnny Bench Award, given annually to the top catcher in college baseball. Miller accompanied Banuelos for the awards ceremony in Wichita, Kan. as his coach.

Before donning the black and gold, Miller played two seasons at his hometown Sacramento City College, making a pair of super regional appearances. He is a product of Elk Grove High School where he was a two-year letter winner in football and a four-year letter winner in baseball, helping Elk Grove to two section championships while setting the school record in doubles.
