Nick Walsh

Nick Walsh comes to The Beach after serving as an assistant at his alma mater, Del La Salle High in 2006. The Maxpreps.com No. 1-ranked team in the state won the Bay League last year behind a 21-6 mark. Walsh served as the team’s hitting coach, third base coach and infield coach.
A two-time honorable mention All-Pac-10 utility player at Arizona State, Walsh played two seasons as a free agent signee in the New York Yankees organization before moving into coaching. He reached as high as Double-A.
The former freshman All-American batted .305 during his four-year career, batting .353 as a junior in 2003 and .329 as a senior in 2004. Walsh started 104 of 192 games during his four-year career, fielding at a .961 clip as an outfielder and second baseman. He redshirted the 2000 season before playing from 2001 to 2004. The Sun Devils reached four-straight regional appearances.
Walsh also managed the NorCal Baseball Club, an elite group of 12 year old travel teams. He earned the Bobby Winkles Award in 2001 given to the student-athlete who demonstrates team leadership and outstanding hustle.
A 1999 graduate of De La Salle High School, playing football and baseball. The football team was named USA Today’s High School National Champions. Walsh was an all-state player as a prep leading the conference in steals and walks as a senior.
Walsh graduated in December, 2003 with a degree in sociology. He was a Maroon and Gold Scholar Athlete, earning a 3.0 GPA all five years. Both brothers played baseball at the Division-I level, with Patrick playing football and baseball and San Jose State and Chris earning All-America honors at UC Davis.
