Jeff Tagliaferri returns to Long Beach State as the program’s hitting coach under head coach TJ Bruce for the 2026 season. A former standout player and respected leader, Tagliaferri brings a wealth of experience in player development, leadership, and program-building back to his Alma mater.

Tagliaferri was a three-year letterwinner for the Dirtbags from 1994–96, helping guide the program to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He closed his collegiate career with a .306 batting average, 17 home runs, and 105 RBI, highlighted by a strong 1996 season in which he hit .307 with nine home runs and 39 RBI. His consistent offensive production and leadership made him a fixture in the Dirtbags' lineup during one of the program’s most competitive eras.

Following his collegiate career, Tagliaferri was selected in the 22nd round of the 1996 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers after previously being drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1993. He played one professional season with the Jamestown Jammers of the New York-Penn League, where he posted a .313 batting average and tallied 13 multi-hit games.

Tagliaferri returned to Long Beach State in 1998 working with the hitters as a member of the coaching, where he helped guide the Dirtbags to the College World Series.

Outside of baseball, Tagliaferri established himself as a successful entrepreneur, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Raven Props LLC.
