Cole Jacobsen begins his first season with the program as the team’s undergraduate assistant coach. He will serve as the team’s first base coach. Jacobsen spent two seasons on the team as a infielder after playing at College of the Sequoias in 2002 and 2003. During his senior season, Jacobsen batted .333 over 33 games. While at the College of the Sequoias he batted .373 with 46 RBIs as a sophomore and ranked 30th in the state in doubles. The all-leaguer ranked second in the league in doubles, fifth in RBIs and ninth in slugging. A native of Fresno, he spent three years on the baseball and football teams at Clovis West High School. He batted .402 as a senior earning all-league and all-region honors.
Three relatives played organized baseball, his father, Michael, played for in the Twins minor leagues, his uncle Bobby was a Dodger minor leaguer and cousin Joey played for four different organizations. He is slated to graduate in the spring of 2006 with a degree in sports psychology.
