Bryan Prince arrived at Long Beach State in July of 2023 as an Assistant Coach under Interim Head Coach Bryan Peters. He will be the hitting and catching coach in his first year with the Dirtbags.
Most recently, Prince served as the West Coast Director/Transfer Portal Director at Elite Sports Advising, specializing in helping baseball players navigate the recruiting process. Before that, he was the Scouting Director and Recruiting Coordinator for the Ballangee Group, focusing on baseball agents.
His coaching career began at his alma mater, Georgia Tech, in 2005, working on the Yellow Jacket staff for 11 years. In that span, Coach Prince brought seven top-ten-ranked recruiting classes and three others that ranked in the top five of the nation. Georgia Tech totaled eight NCAA Regional appearances, a Super Regional appearance, and the 2006 College World Series with Prince on staff while winning three ACC Championships and two conference tournament championships.
Individually, he has mentored six All-Americans, nine freshman All-Americans, and 28 total MLB Draft picks. Working with the hitters resulted in record-breaking offensive numbers back-to-back seasons of the school record number of home runs during the 2009-10 seasons, which ranked top three nationally. Under his tutelage, the Yellow Jackets consistently saw themselves among the leaders in most offensive categories in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
In 2007, he had a year away from Georgia Tech, taking a job at Indiana University, where he saw his sophomore center fielder lead the team in virtually every category on the way to earning All-Big Ten honors.
His coaching career started in 2006 as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Georgia Tech, helping guide his alma mater to their third College World Series appearance, ranking top ten in the nation with a 50-18 record and leading the ACC in runs scored, runs per game, doubles, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, and walks.
Prince enjoyed a four-year professional career in the Cincinnati Reds organization, where he was a two-time minor league All-Star in the 2001-02 seasons.
As a player at GT, he was a two-time semifinalist for the prestigious Johnny Bench Award, a two-time All-ACC catcher, and a 2014 Hall of Fame inductee. At the end of his four years, he ranked in the school’s top ten for hits, RBI, at-bats, doubles, and total bases, while his 216 career RBI was among the top 20 in conference history.
Bryan and his wife, Nicole, have a daughter, Savannah, and two sons, Jax and Cru.
