Summer League/MLB:Â Has pitched in the Alaska Summer Leagues for the previous three summers... pitched for the Alaska Goldpanners in 2004 and 2005... in 2005, compiled a 2.15 ERA over 12 relief appearances picking up a team-best five saves... pitched 29.1 innings, giving up 30 hits, and striking out 24 and walking just seven... opponents had a .268 batting average... in 2004, went 2-1 with a 4.32 ERA over 12 appearances out of the pen... hurled 16.2 innings, giving up 12 hits, striking out 12 and walking just six... had a .190 opponent batting average... strong summer of 2003, producing a 2.55 ERA for Fairbanks in the Alaska Summer League... appeared in 19 games with one start, going 5-3 with two saves over 42.1 innings... struck out 28 and walked eight, giving up 38 hits.
2005 (Junior): Appeared in 10 games in relief, compiling a 1-0 record and 4.66 ERA... pitched 9.2 innings on the season, giving up 13 hits... he struck out three and walked three on the year... opponents batted .317 against him... part of a staff which led the nation in ERA (2.53) and produced the lowest ERA for the 49ers since 1956... longest outing was 3.0 innings at Pepperdine on April 12 when he retired the first nine batters he faced, giving up one hit... also pitched scoreless innings in two games against Saint Mary’s and against UCLA.
2004 (Sophomore):Â Appeared in 17 games out of the bullpen, teaming with fellow reliever Brian Anderson as an effective 1-2 punch during the early part of the season... finished the year 1-0 with a 4.95 ERA over 20.0 innings... did strike out 19 and walk just one with an .253 opponent batting average... fired of a string of 10.2 consecutive scoreless innings over seven appearances to start the season... on February 27 came on at Houston with the bases loaded and got two outs and then pitched the ninth... then faced the Cougars again during the weekend and pitched 2.1 shutout innings, coming on with runners on the corners and getting out of it... hit a stretch from mid March until early Mary in which he gave up 11 earned runs over 7.1 innings... finished the year by getting two outs against CS Fullerton on May 23 and 1.1 shutout innings at Miami on May 27.
2003 (Freshman):Â Went 1-0 with a 10.22 ERA over 11 appearances... tallied 12.1 innings striking out 13 and walking six... opponents batted .343 against him... pitched 1.2 shutout innings at Baylor on March 9, striking out two... pitched a perfect ninth in the rain at Pacific on May 2, striking out two... pitched 1.1 shutout innings against Pepperdine on May 6, giving up two hits... gave up four runs over 1.2 innings at San Diego State on March 12 and three runs over an inning versus LMU on April 1.
High School:Â Earned three varsity letters in baseball and two in football at Foothill HS... two-time first team all-conference, as a utility player in 2001 and as a pitcher in 2002... went 9-3 with a 1.31 ERA as a senior... struck out 97 and walked 12 over 80 innings... pitched five shutouts... as a junior went 6-3 with a 2.12 ERA, striking out 56 and walking 13 over 62 innings... pitched two shutouts... football team won NCS in 2000 and went undefeated in league in 2001... named third team all-league at quarterback... honors student.
