Summer League / MLB: Drafted in the 48th round by the Devil Rays out of high school... teamed with fellow Dirtbag Brett Andrade for Fairbanks in the Alaska Summer League in 2003... led the ASL in runs with 32, batting .285 with five doubles and a triple... drove in 16 over 51 games... also stole five bases... played in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2002... batted .159 for the Brewster Whitecaps over 29 games and 82 at-bats... scored seven runs and drove in three... one double.

2003 (Sophomore): First team All-Big West at utility, successfully moving from behind the plate, to first and then to right during the season... All-Regional Tournament as well... started 30 games in right, 18 at catcher and nine at first... team-best 21 mult-hit games... batted .306 with a team-best 16 doubles and co-leader with four triples... also drove in 26 runs and scored 27 times... ranked 10th in the Big West in doubles, tied for third in triples and ranked fifth in fielding percentage... 13-game hit streak from May 2 to May 24... three homers came at Baylor on March 7, at Pacific on May 2 and against UC Riverside on May 9... threw out seven runners from behind the plate and two from right field (one at plate at UC Irvine and one at second against CS Northridge)... fielded at a .994 clip, making just two errors all season (against Miami)... drove in four runs, going 2-for-3 with two, two-run doubles against Washington in the NCAA Regional on May 31, going 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBI against Washington in the two games... 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI including a two-run triple against USC on February 9... caught two runners on the base paths from behind the plate on February 16 against Washington State... caught two runners stealing and a picked off another, while going 1-for-2 with a walk against San Diego State on March 4... went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs and a double at Baylor on March 7... had two doubles in 3-for-4 game against Washington State on February 15... had the game-winning RBI triple in 1-0 win over CS Northridge on April 5, going 2-for-2 in the game... game-winning pinch-hit two-run double in come from behind victory at UCLA on April 8... went 2-for-3 with the game-winning single in 2-1 win over Cal Poly on April 18... also had a a double... went 2-for-4 in Super Regional in Palo Alto against the Cardinal on June 2... had three hits at UC Santa Barbara, including a double on April 26... went 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk versus Arizona State to open the season... listed by Baseball America as the best defensive catcher and the catcher with the best arm in the Big West.
