Men’s Golf Returns To William H. Tucker Invitational

Long Beach State are the defending team champions of the event.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf begins a busy stretch with six rounds in six days by first competing in the William H. Tucker Invitational, hosted by New Mexico at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque.
Now in its 71st season, the William H. Tucker Invitational is one of the longest-running tournaments in college golf and welcomes 15 teams this season including Long Beach State. The Beach held off the hosts last season for a five-stroke victory as the team returns to defend their crown.
The rest of the field includes Arizona, Arkansas State, BYU, Colorado, Grand Canyon, Missouri, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Santa Clara, SMU, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV, and UTEP.
For the lineup, the Beach will rely on a mix of young and old. The team's veterans will lead the way, as seniors Krishnav Chopraa and Jaden Huggins will play one-two. Chopraa was the top team finisher for the Beach in the team's first tournament of 2026-27, and Huggins had a strong tournament last season on the same course, recording one of his five Top 5 finishes. Junior Norwin Gohm will play third for LBSU.
Also returning to the tournament as champion is sophomore Emil Albers. Albers, playing as an individual as a true freshman for New Mexico last season, won the Tucker with a final score of -13, shooting 67, 67, and 68 over the three rounds.
Rounding out team lineup for the Beach is their own freshman phenom in Bruce MacDonald, who as an individual had the team's top finish at the Vuori Invitational, placing in a tie for 11th among 91 golfers. True freshman Enzo Perrsson will make his collegiate debut at the tournament, playing as an individual.
Once Long Beach State finishes their time in New Mexico, the team will continue on to Colorado, where they will take part in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
