Long Beach State looks to bounce back in Reno before turning its attention to Big West play

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State will get one final non-conference test before Big West play begins, traveling to Reno for a 6 p.m. matchup against Nevada on Thursday, September 17. The Beach enter at 5-1-2 and will look to respond after Utah handed them their first loss of the season, while the Wolf Pack return home following an 11-1 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

KICKOFF
• Long Beach State closes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Thursday, September 17, with a 6 p.m. match at Nevada. The Beach will begin Big West play the following week at UC Santa Barbara.

• The Beach enter their final non-conference contest with a 5-1-2 record. Long Beach State opened the season with seven consecutive results before suffering a 5-1 loss against Utah on Saturday.

• Cherrie Cox scored Long Beach State's lone goal against the Utes, converting a penalty kick in the second half. It was her eighth goal of the season and the 31st of her career.

• Utah became the first team to score against the Beach in the opening half this season. The Utes finished with a 14-5 advantage in shots and placed 10 attempts on goal, while Aurora Schuck made five saves.

• Long Beach State has scored 15 goals through eight matches, averaging 1.88 per contest. The Beach have taken 103 shots, put 47 on goal and produced 18 assists.

• The Beach defense has recorded five shutouts and allowed seven goals in 720 minutes. Long Beach State has limited opponents to 80 shots and 36 attempts on goal.

• Nevada enters Thursday at 3-5-0 after completing a four-match road swing with an 11-1 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Wolf Pack had dropped three straight matches without scoring before breaking out offensively in their most recent contest.

• All three of Nevada's victories have come away from home. The Wolf Pack are 0-2-0 in Reno, falling 2-1 to Sacramento State and 3-0 to Northern Arizona.

• Nevada has scored 18 goals on 86 shots this season, with nine different players finding the net. Eleven of those goals came in the victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• Olivia Loomis leads Nevada with eight points and shares the team lead with three goals. She also leads the Wolf Pack with 18 shots and nine shots on goal after recording a hat trick in their most recent victory.

• Leslie Jacobo Duran has added three goals and two assists for eight points. Jasmine Navarro also has three goals, while Ella York rounds out Nevada's group of four three-goal scorers.

• Nevada has used two goalkeepers this season. Mia Collins has made 24 saves with a .727 save percentage in six appearances, while Iyan Hernandez has recorded 10 saves in four matches.

• Long Beach State entered the 2026 campaign following a 5-8-5 season in 2025. The Beach finished 2-4-4 in Big West play, scoring 21 goals and allowing 20.

• The Beach were picked seventh in the 2026 Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll with 72 points. Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara tied for the top spot with 100 points apiece, followed by Cal State Fullerton with 98.

• Cox and Radisson Banks were selected to the Preseason All-Big West Team. Cox leads the Beach with eight goals and 17 points, while Banks has contributed one goal and three assists.

PLAYER NOTES
• Cherrie Cox has scored eight of Long Beach State's 15 goals this season. The senior leads the Beach with 17 points and has put 13 of her 21 shots on goal.

• Cox has scored in five of Long Beach State's eight matches, including a hat trick at Fresno State and a brace against Weber State. She has also converted both of her penalty-kick attempts.

• With her goal against Utah, Cox moved into sole possession of fifth place in program history with 31 career goals. She is tied for sixth with 74 points and seven game-winning goals while ranking seventh with 162 shots.

• Cox has 31 goals and 12 assists through 56 career appearances. She needs one point to take sole possession of sixth place on the Long Beach State career list.

• The 2023 Big West Offensive Player of the Year, Cox was also named the conference's Freshman of the Year in 2022. She earned Big West Offensive Player of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week honors earlier this season.

• Aurora Schuck returned to the starting lineup against Utah and made five saves. The senior goalkeeper has started seven matches this season, recording 28 saves with an .800 save percentage and four shutouts.

• Schuck ranks third in Long Beach State history with 14 career shutouts and 3,870 minutes in goal. She is fifth with 157 saves and tied for seventh with 15 victories at the Beach.

• Ameera White has emerged as one of the Beach's most productive playmakers. The sophomore leads the team with seven assists and ranks second with nine points, while putting eight of her 13 shots on goal.

• White has already surpassed her team-leading total of six assists from her freshman season. She has two goals and 13 assists for 17 points through 26 career appearances.

• Radisson Banks leads Long Beach State with 22 shots and ranks second with 10 shots on goal. The senior has one goal and three assists through eight starts.

• Banks has five goals and eight assists in 26 appearances at Long Beach State. Including her two seasons at Washington, she has 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points in 61 Division I matches.

• Taylor Bellotti has started five of her first eight collegiate matches, recording one goal and two assists. The freshman scored at Fresno State and picked up assists against Weber State and Portland.

• Sydney Beaumont has started six matches on the back line and played 516 minutes. The freshman recorded her first collegiate point with an assist in the victory over Portland.

• Zoe Willis remains the only Long Beach State player to have played all 720 minutes this season. The senior captain has started 51 of her 61 career matches and logged more than 4,700 minutes for the Beach.

• Jordan Candelaria has started all eight matches in the midfield and played 533 minutes. The senior captain has three goals and four assists through 59 career appearances.

• Kana Uchida has started all seven matches in which she has appeared. The senior scored her first career goal at Fresno State and has played more than 4,900 minutes across 63 appearances for the Beach.

• Natalie Arnold has appeared in all eight matches and made two starts, playing 351 minutes. She has three goals and one assist through 41 career appearances.

• Kailey Supa ranks second on the team with two goals. The junior has added one assist for five points and owns seven goals and one assist through 43 career matches.

• Cassidy Drago has started seven matches during her first season with the Beach. The BYU transfer has one goal and one assist while ranking third on the team with 12 shots.

• Ruby Mansour has started all eight matches on the back line and played 609 minutes. She has helped Long Beach State record five shutouts while contributing five shots at the other end.

• Kylie Perez has appeared in six matches with two starts, playing 298 minutes. The senior has made 36 appearances at Long Beach State and 48 during her Division I career.

• Long Beach State's 5-0-2 start marked the first time in program history the Beach completed their opening seven matches without a loss.

• The Beach have outshot their opponents 103-80 and hold a 47-36 advantage in shots on goal. Long Beach State has also earned 37 corner kicks while allowing 26.

• Seven players have accounted for Long Beach State's 15 goals. Cox leads the way with eight, Supa has two and Banks, Bellotti, Drago, Uchida and White have scored once each.

• Long Beach State has scored seven times in the first half and eight times after halftime. Opponents have scored four first-half goals and three in the second half.

• Banks leads the Beach with 22 shots, followed by Cox with 21 and White with 13. Cox has put a team-high 13 attempts on goal, with Banks adding 10 and White eight.

• White leads Long Beach State with seven assists. Banks has three, Bellotti has two and Beaumont, Cox, Drago, Emerson Obrist, Supa and Willis have one apiece.

• Long Beach State has posted shutouts in five of eight matches. The Beach did not concede a goal over the first 540 minutes of the season.

• Cox's penalty kick against Utah was Long Beach State's first goal in a loss this season. The Beach had scored at least three goals in each of their previous four victories.

• Long Beach State defeated Nevada 6-0 at George Allen Field last season. The Beach outshot the Wolf Pack 20-6 and held a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal.

• Several current Beach players contributed to last season's victory over Nevada. Supa scored twice, Banks recorded a goal and two assists, Cox added a goal and an assist, and White and Candelaria each found the net.

• Nevada has scored seven goals across its other seven matches outside of the 11-1 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Wolf Pack were shut out in four of their five losses.

• Nevada has been effective after halftime, scoring 10 of its 18 goals in the second half. Opponents have scored eight times in each half against the Wolf Pack.

• The Wolf Pack have placed 41 of their 86 shots on goal for a .477 shots-on-goal percentage. Nevada has allowed 14 goals on 48 shots on target.

• Thursday will be Long Beach State's fourth road match of the season. The Beach are unbeaten at 2-0-1 away from George Allen Field, earning shutout wins at Fresno State and New Mexico State before drawing 1-1 at Grand Canyon.

• Mauricio Ingrassia is in his 23rd season leading Long Beach State. He earned his 200th victory at the Beach on August 31, 2024, and enters Thursday with a 214-152-62 career record.
