The Beach had four golfers in the Top 5 and five in the Top 15 after the first day.

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf controlled the action in the first day at the Big West Championship, navigating windy conditions for a 14-stroke lead after the opening round at La Quinta Country Club.

Day One Results

Coming in as the favorites, Long Beach State had four of the seven total rounds under par on Sunday, led by Graduate Steen Zeman who had no bogeys and five birdies in a five-under 67 to lead the tournament.

Seniors Jack Cantlay and Alejandro de Castro Piera were both tied for second with rounds of 69, and Jaden Huggins was under par at 71 in a tie for fifth place overall. Krishnav Chopraa was in the Top 15, tied for 14th overall with a 73 to highlight the strength of the day for the team.

Overall, Long Beach State finished the day -12, 14 strokes in front of Cal Poly in second place at +2.
