Beach Volleyball Enters Big West Championship As Second Seed

No. 10 Long Beach State starts the postseason on Thursday in San Luis Obispo.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 10 Long Beach State earned the second seed for the upcoming Beach Volleyball Big West Championship, and start the postseason on Thursday against Cal State Bakersfield.
Long Beach State comes into the conference championship with a 22-10 overall record, and stays in the Top 10 in the rankings after shoring up their postseason resume with two thrilling 3-2 wins over No. 11 Grand Canyon and No. 12 Arizona State.
This year's Big West Championship will be hosted by the top seed, Cal Poly. The Mustangs begin the week ranked No. 6 in the country, and went unbeaten at the Big West Challenge to help secure the top spot.
Long Beach State went 5-1 at Rosie's Dog Beach and will hold the second spot. They will play in a pool with (4) UC Davis, (6) Sacramento State and (7) Cal State Bakersfield, where the low finisher will be eliminated prior to bracket play.
As the top seed on that side, Long Beach State will face Cal State Bakersfield to begin the championship on Thursday at 2 p.m.. With a win, the Beach would then face the winner of UC Davis and CSUN at 4:30 p.m.
Bracket play then begins the next day at 10 a.m., with the top seed in each pool earning a first-round bye into the semifinals. The winners will then play through to the championship match scheduled for 3:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
