A critical weekend for Long Beach State is coming up at the Texas Invitational.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Beach Volleyball will take part in the Texas Invitational on Friday and Saturday this week, a two-day tournament hosted by Texas that matches up some of the best teams from the South and West against each other in Austin.
Long Beach State moved up a spot in the rankings to No. 10 after a 5-1 week at the Big West Challenge, but will get a fantastic test playing four ranked teams in Texas. The tournament will begin for the Beach with a rematch against No. 17 North Florida, who the Beach defeated 4-1 on March 13 at Stanford. In a second match on Friday, the Beach will then take on No. 16 Florida Atlantic at 11:30 a.m. PT.
On Saturday, Long Beach State will then face No. 12 LSU to begin the day in Texas with a 6 a.m. PT start time, and then take on the hosts, No. 6 Texas at 8:30 a.m. PT. The only live coverage will be a paid stream on the Longhorn Network for the final match against Texas.
Long Beach State is coming off of a successful weekend hosting the Big West Challenge. Now 15-5 overall, Long Beach State's only loss came against then No. 3 Cal Poly, and the Beach dispatched No. 13 Hawai'i 4-1 in the other ranked match for LBSU over the weekend at Rosie's Dog Beach.
