Elisa Portillo Named Big West Women’s Water Polo Player Of The Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a record-breaking weekend, senior Elisa Portillo was named Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week as the league announced this Wednesday.
Portillo led No. 7 Long Beach State (7-4) to a 2-2 weekend at the Triton Invitational after scoring 11 goals and surpassing a 20-year old school record set by Cassie Azevedo in 2006. The Madrid native now leads the program with 210 goals and half of the season still to go.
The senior attacker leads the team with 33 goals and adds 21 assists to go along with 11 steals and two field blocks.
The Beach will host No. 3 USC (8-1) in their home opener at the renovated Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center. First sprint is scheduled for Noon with live stats provided through TheFOSH.net.
