LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach State women's tennis team will compete at two events this week, with Pamela Badillo and Thea Jagare heading to Rome, Ga., for the ITA Masters and a trio of Beach players taking part in the CSUN Fall Tournament in Northridge.
ITA Masters
Badillo and Jagare have qualified for the ITA Masters at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga., where play runs Nov. 5-8. The champion and runner-up of the doubles event will earn a spot in the NCAA Doubles Championship. The pair opens Thursday against Dartmouth's Michela Moora and Peyton Capuano at 4:30 p.m.
The event marks the first time Long Beach State will compete in the ITA Masters in doubles. Badillo is making her second consecutive appearance at the event, having competed in singles last year, but this will be her first time in the doubles draw.
CSUN Fall Tournament
Daria Malaescu, Sonia Van San and Makaila Cheng will compete Friday through Sunday, Nov. 6-8, at the CSUN Fall Tournament in Northridge. The trio will play a combination of singles and doubles against various opponents. On Friday, the Beach faces Youngstown State in singles at 9 a.m. and doubles at noon. Saturday brings doubles against Youngstown State at noon, followed by singles against UC Irvine at 1 p.m. The tournament wraps up Sunday with doubles against CSUN at noon.
Tournament results will be available on longbeachstate.com after each competition day.
