ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Long Beach State turned in multiple top-tier performances Friday as the Beach opened the 2026 indoor track and field season at the New Mexico Team Open.
Day One
Long Beach State opened the two-day New Mexico Team Open with several notable performances Friday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
On the women's side, senior KiiKii Brown recorded a season-opening leap of 19 feet, 6 inches (5.94m) in the long jump, a mark that ranks 5th all time in school history. Giszelle Hrehor continued her strong indoor form with a runner-up finish in the weight throw, posting a mark of 62-1¾ (18.94m). Trinity Barnett opened her season in the 200 meters with a time of 23.98.
Trinity Barnett opened her indoor season in the 200 meters with a time of 23.98, providing an early benchmark as the Beach begin the two-day meet. In the high jump, Kendra Daniels cleared 5-2¼ (1.58m), while Daneira Pellum posted a clearance of 5-0¼ (1.53m).
The men were led by Steven Evans-Glynn, who won the long jump with a mark of 24-6½ (7.48m), which is 5th best in Long Beach State indoor history moving past Detric Cofield's (1996) 24-5 1/2 mark.
Tyler Knowles added a second-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 65-1½ (19.85m), while Eman Goodloe followed closely behind with a mark of 62-6 (19.05m). In the sprints, Adren Parker placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 47.99, while Jaden Dasher crossed in 49.04. In the 200 meters, Dre'londe Johnson ran 21.55 in the unseeded section, while Trey Sheron clocked 21.24 later in the evening.
In the high jump, Cytres Vives finished fourth after clearing 6-6¾ (2.00m). Evans-Glynn also competed in the event, posting a clearance of 6-4¾ (1.95m).
The New Mexico Team Open continues Saturday with the first event scheduled for 9:45 a.m. MT as Long Beach State looks to build on a strong opening day.
