FIRST SERVE
Long Beach State opens its 61st year of women's volleyball this weekend, hosting three matches in the Walter Pyramid.

The Beach begins with the LBSU Tournament, welcoming No. 6 Stanford on Friday night at 7 p.m. Stanford then faces Oregon State on Saturday at 7 p.m., before the Beavers take on Long Beach State Sunday at 4 p.m.

The home stand concludes Monday with a single match against No. 18 UCLA at 5 p.m. All three matches will be on ESPN+ with Matt Brown on the call.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL
Stanford enters the weekend ranked No. 6 in the AVCA Top 25 and was picked third in the ACC preseason poll. The Cardinal went 1-1 at the AVCA First Serve Showcase in Lincoln, Neb., defeating No. 16 Florida before falling in straight sets to No. 1 Nebraska.

Preseason All-Pac-12 selection Ella Rubin opened the season by hitting .343 with 14 kills, 17 digs, and two blocks across the two matches.

Long Beach State and Stanford meet for the first time since 2017. The Cardinal lead the all-time series 17-3-1.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Oregon State finished 10-18 in 2024 and was picked fourth in the West Coast Conference preseason poll. Two Beavers — Annika Hester and Lauren Rumel — were named preseason All-Conference.
Rumel ranked second on the team with 333 kills last year and helped lead Team USA U23 to the NORCECA Pan American Championship. Hester led OSU with 340 kills.

Sunday marks the seventh meeting between Long Beach State and Oregon State, with the all-time series tied at 3-3.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS
UCLA begins the year ranked No. 18 in the AVCA Top 25 and was selected fifth in the Big Ten preseason poll.

Outside hitters Cheridyn Leverette and Maggie Li earned spots on the AVCA Player of the Year Watch List. Leverette was an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and first-team All-Conference selection in 2024, while Li, a transfer from Cal, recorded 463 kills as a sophomore.

Long Beach State and UCLA will meet for the 92nd time. The Bruins lead the all-time series 67-24.

KING NATIONAL
Redshirt freshman Logan King was selected as one of 12 players on the Volleyball Canada Women's U21 National Team, competing at the U21 NORCECA Pan Am Cup (July 20–28 in Costa Rica) and the FIVB U21 World Championship (Aug. 7–17 in Indonesia).

King was named Best Opposite at the U21 Pan Am Cup after helping Canada to the Bronze Medal match. She scored 13 points in the final against Costa Rica and posted 20 points against the Dominican Republic, tied for the second-highest single-match total in the tournament.

At the World Championship, King recorded 105 points (88 kills), ranking 20th among all individual players.

AGI SELECTED TO WNT PROGRAM
Senior Elise Agi participated in the USA Volleyball Women's National Team Open Program in Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 21–23), a key development initiative connecting NCAA programs to the U.S. Women's National Team and NTDP.

The WNT Open Program serves as a pathway for future national team and age-group selections. In 2025, the U.S. Women's National Team competed in the Volleyball Nations League, Pan American Cup, and NORCECA Final Six.

Agi, who redshirted in 2024 due to injury, earned second-team All-Conference honors in 2023. She ranked fourth in the league in kills per set (3.59) and finished with 352 kills, 206 digs, and 30 blocks.

MAXWELL RETURNS
Sophomore Madi Maxwell is the lone returning Beach player with postseason honors.

Maxwell earned Big West All-Freshman recognition after finishing third on the team in both total kills (153) and kills per set (1.94). She added 22 aces, 132 digs, and 32 blocks, and was twice named Big West Freshman of the Week.
