Long Beach State senior earns national honor from CSC, breaking multiple school records while maintaining a 3.83 GPA in business economics
LONG BEACH, Calif.--Long Beach State senior Sofia Lavreshina has been named to the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for women's track and field, recognizing a standout year of athletic achievement and academic excellence.
Â
Lavreshina, a business economics major with a 3.83 GPA, shattered two school records and qualified for the NCAA West First Round during a historic senior campaign. She reset the program record in the 400 meters with a 53.06-second finish to win the Battle at the Beach and broke the 400-meter hurdles mark by clocking 56.64 at the Beach Invitational.
Â
Her season also included Big West honors and several top-10 finishes in school history. She claimed the Big West 400-meter title in 53.18 and earned All-Conference honors as the anchor of the 4x100-meter relay, which placed third in 44.90 seconds — the third-fastest time in school history.
Â
Lavreshina tied for eighth in program history in the 200 meters with a 23.92 win at the Beach Opener and added a personal-best 11.89 in the 100 meters. She also helped Long Beach State's 4x400-meter relay teams to the seventh- and eighth-best times in school history.
Â
To qualify for Academic All-District honors, nominees must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, hold sophomore standing or above, and demonstrate strong athletic performance. Lavreshina now advances to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
