No. 9 Beach Volleyball Goes Undefeated At Husky Invitational

The Beach closed a perfect weekend with two 5-0 sweeps on Saturday.
SEATTLE, Wash. – No. 9 Long Beach State was in total command to close the Husky Invitational, wrapping up their trip to Seattle with a pair of sweeps against Oregon and FIU to finish up a 4-0 weekend in Washington.
Long Beach State (22-10) started the day against Oregon (5-15) with a sweep to establish their momentum on the day. The second flight pair of Julia Westby and Demi Wagdy were in control of both sets as they were the dual clinching point. Mahala Esser and Tineke Hinton completed the sweep for the Beach as they took their opponents in two. The first set was back and forth but they were able to gain momentum to win 21-19. They blew past their opponents as they found their rhythm in the second set to win 21-11.
The last match of the weekend against No. 19 FIU (12-18) saw the Beach earn their second sweep of the day in a rematch against the Panthers. The fifth flight pair of Mo Gibson and Brooke Birch held their opponents under ten points in the second set to win their match in two sets. The fifth flight was the dual winning point, and the third flight was able to win their match in three sets to complete the second sweep of the day for LBSU.
Long Beach State will play their final regular season matches at No. 4 Loyola Marymount on Friday, April 18.
