
Men’s Golf Ties For 11th At The Goodwin

Jack Cantlay and Alejandro de Castro Piera tied for 40th in the 164-golfer field to lead the Beach.
STANFORD, Calif. – Long Beach State held even in the final day of The Goodwin, remaining in 11th place overall among the 30 teams competing over three days at the Stanford Golf Course.
Final Results
UCLA was the team champion among the 30 teams competing in a field that included 13 teams in the Top 50. Long Beach State finished the tournament tied with Georgia at 14-over par, closing the tournament with a 286 Saturday on the Par 70 course.
For the second day in a row, junior Jack Cantlay had the low score for Long Beach State, using an eagle on seven to help close the tournament with an even-par 70, climbing 14 places on the leaderboard to a tie for 40th at four-over par for the tournament. That was matched by Alejandro de Castro Piera, who with a 71 also finished +4 over the three days of action.
Steen Zeman had his best round of the tournament with a 72, while sophomore Krishnav Chopraa was one stroke behind that on Saturday with a 73, closing The Goodwin one stroke behind Cantlay and De Castro Piera with at +5. Charlie Forster's 78 was the drop score on the final day.
Long Beach State will have a quick turnaround, using a travel day tomorrow before taking part in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic held on March 31 and April 1 at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
