Men’s Golf Plays Final Fall Tournament At Cal Poly Invitational

Long Beach State will send the same six to Carmel Valley starting Monday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf will compete in one final tournament for the fall starting on Monday, October 27, participating in the Cal Poly Invitational at The Preserve in Carmel Valley.
The tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday followed by a final round on Tuesday, October 28. The Beach placed fifth overall last season at the same event, and will try to keep their momentum going as the team has won two events and finished no lower than fourth so far this fall.
Senior Jaden Huggins will lead the lineup for the Beach coming off of a Top 10 performance at the Saint Mary's Invitational. Alejandro de Castro Piera remains ranked in the Top 150 in the country and will play second.
Graduate Steen Zeman led the Beach for a second straight tournament at Bayonet/Black Horse, finishing the Saint Mary's Invitational in the Top 10 and has now risen to a ranking of No. 93 in the latest SCOREBOARD rankings. Krishnav Chopraa will play fourth and Jack Cantlay will round out the lineup for Long Beach State.
Senior Steven Deutsch will continue to play as an individual having had a strong fall in his return to competition. Deustch won the Les Fowler Individual Invitational hosted by Colorado, and in the team's competition last week placed in a tie for 23rd overall, the third-best score of the Beach contingent.
The field will include 11 teams, with the hosts Cal Poly welcoming Oregon, BYU, Kent State, Saint Mary's, Cal, San Diego, Colorado State, Grand Canyon, Santa Clara, and Long Beach State. Live scoring for both rounds will be available through SCOREBOARD at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/238648/scoring/team.
