Senior Jack Cantlay shot a first-round 69 at the Bayonet Course in Seaside, Calif.
SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior Jack Cantlay led Long Beach State at the Saint Mary's Invitational on the first of three days, firing a three-under 69 to start the tournament at the Bayonet Course in Seaside, Calif.
Day One Results
Cantlay was one of three golfers for Long Beach State under par in the first of three rounds, helping the Beach end the day in a tie for fifth place overall at -1 along with San Francisco. Graduate Steen Zeman shot a 70 to continue his strong start to the year, well placed to grab a fourth Top 20 finish in four tournaments.
Jaden Huggins was one stroke back, using a stretch of four straight birdies to end the day -1 with a 71. Steven Deustch wrapped up his day with an eagle to post a solid 73 as an individual, while Alejandro de Castro Piera rounded out the team's scoring with a first-day 77.
Arkansas State holds the team lead, while St. Mary's and Fresno State round out the top three.
