
Men’s Golf Returns To Fall Action At Bayonet/Black Horse

The Beach will take on 15 other teams at the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Challenge.
SEASIDE, Calif. – After two wins and a podium finish to start the year, Long Beach State Men's Golf is back in action, playing the Bayonet Golf Course hosted by Saint Mary's over three days beginning on Monday, October 20.
In the initial SCOREBOARD rankings of the year, Long Beach State current ranks No. 32 in the nation, and will take on a competitive field at the Leadership and Golf Collegiate Challenge. Along with the hosts and the Beach, the field will include Washington State, Pacific, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, Nevada, Fresno State, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, Arkansas State, Texas State, Austin Peay and UT Arlington.
Senior Jaden Huggins will lead the lineup for Long Beach State. Huggins tied for the team lead at the William H. Tucker Invitational in a Top 5 finish, and has not finished outside of the Top 30 in three tournaments so far this season.
Alejandro de Castro Piera is in the Top 150 in the first individual rankings, and will play second for the Beach following a pair of podium finishes this season. Graduate Steen Zeman has twice finished in the Top 5 this season for Long Beach State, including a runner-up finish at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. That has earned Zeman the top spot for the team of three in the Top 250, ranking No. 100 in the first rankings of the year.
Junior Krishnav Chopraa will play fourth for the Beach, while Jack Cantlay will take the final position in the lineup, ranked No. 250 individually after three tournaments this season including sharing the team honors with Huggins at the William H. Tucker Invitational.
Steven Deutsch will play again as an individual for Long Beach State after an outstanding tournament in Colorado his last time out. Deutsch, competing as an individual in his first competitive action since the spring of 2023, shot a final-round 63 to capture the Les Fowler Individual Invitational championship.
