Emma Kang Shoots 66 On Tuesday To Lead Women’s Golf At Golf Iconic Classic

Long Beach State on the podium and within striking distance of the lead with one round remaining in New Mexico.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Women's Golf remains in third place overall, just four strokes out of the lead after two days at the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.
 
Junior Emma Kang had a massive rebound day on Tuesday. After putting up the team's drop score on Monday, Kang recovered with a 6-under-par 66, making seven birdies and just one bogey on the day to climb an astounding 62 spots on the individual leaderboard.
 
Freshman Chloe Park, who was one of the team's co-leaders yesterday, also had another strong round, finishing with a one-under par 71 to close the day in 14th place overall, three-under par for the tournament.
 
Kang's 66 left her at 2-under after two rounds, equal with Erin Lee, who shot even par after a 70 on Monday to also close two rounds at -2. Alyson Sor is under par for the tournament as well, -1 after a 73 on Tuesday while Kailey Yoon had the team's drop score on the second day.
 
Boise State remained in the team lead, but both UC Irvine and Long Beach State made up ground on the Broncos on Tuesday. Boise State begins the final day -15 as a team, two strokes in front of the 'Eaters and four strokes in front of the Beach as those three teams along with Northern Colorado (-10) will battle it out on the final day for the team championship.
