Raud-Gumiel breaks the long jump mark while Scott ties the pole vault record

RENO, Nev.—
One new school record and one school record that was tied highlighted day one of the Long Beach State performances at the Nevada Invitational Friday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
 
WOMEN
Claudine Raud-Gumiel reset the LBSU indoor school record in the long jump with a leap of 20-0 1/4. Her performance bettered the previous Long Beach State mark of 19-9 3/4 posted by Marion Reneau in 2000. Raud-Gumiel and Naiah Boardingham of Premier Elite went 20-0 1/4, but Raud-Gumiel was awarded the victory as she posted the jump on her first attempt.  She later tied for seventh in the high jump (5-4 1/4) with three other entries.
 
Freshman Jonelle Scott made her Long Beach State debut memorable in the pole vault. She tied Connie Jerz's 2002 school record by clearing 13-3 1/2 to win the event.
 
Trinity Barnett ran Long Beach State's second-fastest indoor 200m time in school history, an altitude-adjusted time of 24.04, to finish second in the field of 66.  
 
Giszelle Hrehor reset her personal best in the weight throw with a 62-0 1/4 toss. Her throw is the fourth longest in school history. She finished third in the event.
 
Hailey Fune' raised her best in the indoor long jump to 19-7 to place third. Her jump is the fourth-best in school history.
 
Sophomore transfer Grace Stoddart finished eighth in the pole vault, clearing 11-9 3/4.
 
MEN
On Friday, Long Beach State finished 1-3-4 in the B section of the 400m. Redshirt freshman Adren Parker made his LBSU debut by winning the race in a time of 48.48aa. Omri Shiff placed third (48.72aa), while Vincent Jones went 48.77aa to come in fourth.
 
Tristyn Flores ran the second fastest LBSU indoor 200m time of an altitude adjusted 21.45 to come in ninth in a field of 53. Shiff's altitude adjusted time of 21.68 is the 10th quickest in school history and earned a 15th-place showing.
 
Aidan Turner tied for second in the pole vault with Utah State's Marshall Rasmussen as the duo went 15-7. Turner placed seventh in the long jump (23-2 1/2) earlier in the day.
 
TJ Funches finished third in the high jump, going 6-6 3/4. Milo Orona and Ryan Gregory tied for sixth (6-2 3/4).
 
Tyler Knowles and Canaan Wharry recorded new career bests in the weight throw in a 2-3 finish for the Beach. Knowles was the runner-up in the competition with a toss of 59-11. Wharry's effort resulted in 59-5 3/4. Micah Norfles finished fifth in the weight throw at 57-2 1/4.
 
Quinten Flowers finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 23-2 3/4.
 
Glen Quayle cleared 15-7 in the pole vault but was awarded fifth place in the competition. Compared to Turner, Rasmussen, and Carson Le Bel of Southern Oregon, it took him one more attempt to reach the height.
The Nevada Invitational wraps up on Saturday. The field events begin at 10 a.m., and the running events start at 10:30 a.m.
